Take A Step In Faith
What is Faith?   According to Webster's Dictionary faith is "an unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence."  However, Christians need evidence for our faith which is found in the Word of God in the testimony of the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Faith – is what we rely on for our daily lives.  We have faith that when go through our daily activities that things will be in place.  We believe without questioning that our car will be outside and it will start when we turn the ignition, that our mail will arrive in our mailbox each day, that the things in our physical world will be in order as our day goes along.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

In our physical world faith is based on what we can see which is temporary, in fact we live in a temporary body.  Our spiritual faith is our belief in God through His Son, Jesus Christ who we cannot see, but who is eternal.  The evidence of His existence is in the world around us and through our personal testimonies, and the witness of the Bible.

Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

In the word FAITH we can have confidence in “TAKING A STEP IN FAITH’ by believing in the:
FAITHFULNESS OF GOD,
ASSURANCE OF GOD,
INSPIRATION OF GOD,
TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD, and
HOPE IN GOD

1.     Faithfulness of God
Faithfulness of God means we can rely on God. Your faith grows as your experience with Him grows or increases.  Relying on God’s faithfulness allows us to Take A Step in Faith.

2.    Assurance in God
Assurance is freedom from doubt; certainty.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. We are certainly saved if we have faith in God.

3.    Inspiration of God
Inspiration – A step in faith is being inspired to take action;  arousing to a particular emotion or action.  The Holy Spirit and the Word work in us to inspire us to do God’s will.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

What has the Word inspired you to do lately?  You take A Step In Faith and when He confirms himself to you, you are inspired to take another step.  The testimony of other believers can also inspire us.

4.    Truth of God
Truth is reliability. The concept of truth is derived from the character of God, and is the exact opposite of the concept of lying. "It is impossible for God to lie."

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5.    Hope in God
Hope:  to desire with expectation of obtainment; to expect with confidence. To have trust in God.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Exercise your  faith,  use your gifts to the glory of God! When we are faced with the many issues of life our faith is challenged, but we must begin to rely on God to intervene in our lives.  We need to stop calling our friends, the Pastor and everyone except God.  He is available and He is never too busy for us, He will always answer and even though we cannot see what He's doing and we must believe that He is working things out for our good.

When you “Take A Step in Faith”,
  • That faith grows and becomes a walk in faith.
  • The more experience you have with God through prayer and study of His Word, you gain momentum and you begin to jog in faith.
  • The more you get to know Him and of Him you will gain confidence in Him and stop relying on yourself and other people and you can run in faith and go on and see what the end is going to be.
